Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Is there a way to keep my furniture and carpeting from fading from sun exposure?

Yes. Sun control products also provide light filtering, which helps protect your furniture and flooring from overexposure to sunlight.

I would like to have my window open at night but I'm afraid the regular screening material won't keep me safe. Is anything available to help me with this problem?
Yes, alarm screens are available for windows. These screens will not prevent someone from entering through them, but they do make a loud noise if the screens are disturbed in any way, such as lifting or moving the frame. The noise it produces is usually sufficient to send the bad guys somewhere else in a hurry and, of course, they would, most likely, wake you from your sleep. Another option is a foot releasable window grille. Fire Marshall laws say that all windows must be free and clear in case of a fire and this window grille is mounted using a foot release from the inside the house.
I am tired of a cheap sliding screen doors on my house. Is there anything better?

That's a great question. Yes, many different sliders that will work on your house. The one we recommend is a heavy-duty sliding screen door. It's 2 1/2" wide, has steel wheels top and bottom, a large extruded frame with a steel internal latch. It is a quality door that is designed to be tough and withstand a lot of abuse. It is truly a heavy duty sliding screen door that will serve you well for many years, taking all the abuse you can give it.

My patio has afternoon sun, which I would like to have some sun protection. However, I would also like to have the view, at times, without having anything obstruct the view, not even screens. Do you have something that can accommodate all this?

Yes, roll up sunscreens could be the answer. These screens mount on the outside of the patio. You can use them at your choosing, rolling them down to block a lot of the heat from making its way to your sitting area, or up out of the way of your viewing area. They either come with 80% or 90% density screening material. They can be chain operated, motorized, or crank operated.

My dog keeps tearing the screen on my patio door. Is there anything tougher?
Yes. Several products are available. One is a pet resistant screen. This pet resistant screen is ten times stronger than a regular screen. The animal, whether it is a dog or cat, cannot break the strands; however, if they chew on it, they will be able to shred it. Another product is a super-screen, which is about five times heavier than a regular bug screen. This screen gives you great outward visibility. It's not as strong as a pet screen, as it is designed for insect control, but it can tolerate a considerable amount of pet abuse.

Window Screens

Do I have to measure all the openings in order for SCREENMOBILE to come do them for me?
No, let us take care of that for you, then manufacture and install the window and door screens at your place. We will measure the openings, determine the thickness of the frame, recommend the right color and manufacture, and install them at your home.
I have window coverings throughout my home but they do not keep my home from getting to warm during summer months. Is there anything you have that can keep the heat out?
Yes, sun control products. Sun control products block the heat from the outside before it gets to the window. The denser the material, the more shade is produced. We carry 80% and 90% density solar screens that produce the shading effect you are looking for. By using sun control screens, you will feel a significant drop in heat entering your home and see a noticeable drop in your AC use and your electric bill.
My door swings outward. Can anything be put on this opening so I can get ventilation and still be able to use my doors?
Yes, a retractable or disappearing screen door. Because out-swinging doors are becoming more popular in home design, adding more usable space on the inside of the home, you are limited on useful screen door products. The retractable screen door industry has filled that niche.
I have a covered patio and I would like to be able to use it without getting eaten alive by flies or mosquitoes. Can you enclose my patio?
Yes, we do patio enclosures all over the country. Patio enclosures can be custom designed to fit your home, using different types of screen. They are constructed adding sliding screen doors or double or single doors, with chair rails and kick panels. Frame and fabric choices are available in several different colors which enable you to customize it to blend with your home.
My dog constantly jumps up on my screen door, which eventually causes tears in the screen. Is there a product that provides protection from pets?
Yes, aluminum pet guards. Pet guards mount across the bottom half of your screen door, usually to the outside. It is a see-through expanded aluminum mesh material so the dog can scratch against it, but not tear up the screen door. We also have pet screen if you wish to not have something hanging from your screen door.

Door Screens

How many window screens can you do?
From one to thousands. It really doesn't matter to us. We prefer more, of course, however if you only have one, we would be more than happy to do just one. When you call us just give the number of windows you want serviced and we will do the rest.
I find that most of my homes window screens are really hard to get out. Can you help with that problem?
Yes, we can make screens to fit your windows as they were designed to. We can also show you how to take your window screens in and out properly when we have completed installation. The window manufacturer designed your window for the screen to fit in a particular way. We cannot change that, however, we can modify the way the screen goes in and out to make it easier for you depending on your style of window.
I like screen doors, but I don't want to cover my existing door because they are really pretty. Do you have something that doesn't cover my front door, but yet gives me ventilation when I need it?
Yes, it is a disappearing or retractable screen door. It has a side mounted housing that occupies about 4 inches of the door jam, a track at the top and bottom of the door jam. You simply open your wooden door, then pull the screen out of the tube and attach to a magnet or latch on the opposite side. While it is open it will provide protection from insects and plenty of ventilation. When you are through with it, simply disengage the magnet latch and let it roll itself back into the tube for storage until you need it again.
Can my existing patio enclosure be re-screened with solar screen?
Yes, we can re-screen existing patios with solar screen which comes in five different colors and five different styles. The denser the screen, the more shade it provides.

Porch & Patio Screens

I understand that solar screens will give me privacy. Is that correct?
Yes, during the daytime when it is darker inside and lighter outside, people cannot see in. However, the reverse allows for visibility inward although only slightly. Using window treatments will correct this issue at night.
My front door gets lots of traffic. What kind of doors do you have for a heavy traffic area?
There are several types that will meet your needs, however a swinging screen door will put up with a lot of use and abuse and is your best solution. Storm doors and security doors are also good choices, but they are designed for different needs.

Pet Products

I live by a lake and these really small gnats come right through my screens and bite me. Are there screens that will prevent the gnats from getting into my house?
Yes, several different varieties of insect control screen fabric are available. Standard insect screen uses a 18 x 14 or 18 x 16 weave (per square inch). By using a denser weave product, like Twitchel Super Screen or Phifer's Pet Screen Lite, will do the job. These products use weave densities of 20 x 20 and 30 x 30, keeping the smallest of insects out of your home.
I have a door in my garage and I would like to put something there. Is this possible?
If you garage door rolls up and down, we can put a screen on the outside which enables you to have another living space or work space while keeping bugs out. We also can put screens on your swinging door that goes out of your garage door. We carry a full line of products that will meet your insect control in your garage area, such disappearing doors, storm doors, screen doors, and security doors.
